Volunteering Opportunities

Volunteers undergo a training session.

If you want to make a difference to our patients, come and join our dedicated team of volunteers.

SWB is developing its network of volunteers to support the Trust, its patients and visitors in a whole host of activities. Our volunteers provide invaluable support and make a real difference to people’s lives.

We are expanding our team and welcome in new members who are keen to help, wherever and for as long as you can. There are volunteering opportunities at Sandwell, City and Rowley Regis hospitals as well as at Leasowes and the Heart of Sandwell Day Hospice.

These roles are continuing to evolve within the service as we and the Trust find new ways to support patients during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We normally recruit volunteers into the following roles, however these are currently inactive. Check back to find out when they return:

  • Catering Support
  • Keeping in Touch Volunteer
  • Play Supporter
  • Therapeutic Activity
  • Pharmacy Volunteer
  • Activity Support – Kissing it Better
  • Activity Support – Staff Nursery
  • Alcohol Team
  • Bereavement Support Volunteer
  • Breastfeeding support
  • Day Hospice Support
  • Patient Companion
  • Pulmonary Rehab

Volunteers undergo training sessions when they join us so they are fully prepared for the roles they will fill, and you can find out more about these sessions and what they involve by calling a member of the team via the contact us page.

We also are partnered with several local charities and you can also opt to volunteer with us through them.
