The Midland Metropolitan University Hospital is hosting an exciting event to mark National Fitness Day, offering local people a chance to try different physical activities for free.
Organised by Sandwell Health and Care Partnership, the hospital in Smethwick is hosting a celebration of National Fitness Day on 24 September, with a day filled with fun activities for patients, staff and visitors to take part in.
Taking place in the Winter Garden on Level 5 of the hospital, the day will involve free group fitness classes such as spin, yoga and chair-based exercises that will take place throughout the day, to help people find a physical activity that they enjoy and to show the benefits of being active.
There will also be a Sports Zone where everyone can drop-in and enjoy a range of sports, including Badminton, Pickleball and Table Tennis.
Along with the all-day activities, a range of local organisations and health experts will be on hand at a Healthy Information Marketplace to provide advice and guidance, signpost to local support and provide information on how to improve your health and wellbeing.
Kat Rose, Interim Group Chief Integration Officer at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust said: “National Fitness Day is a fantastic campaign that highlights the benefits of staying active and I’m delighted that we are partnering with Sandwell Leisure Trust and other partners through Sandwell Health and Care Partnership to bring this message to our local population and our staff.
“There will be lots of opportunities to try different sports, fitness classes and activities and lots of support available for anyone who is looking to improve their health and wellbeing. I encourage everyone to come along and participate and find out how physical activity can help us all lead healthier and happier lives.”
The National Fitness Day celebrations are taking place on Wednesday 24 September, 8am-4pm at the Midland Met. To book a group fitness class, please visit the Sandwell Leisure Trust website.
