Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust will be spreading festive cheer at the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital and turning on their Christmas tree lights on Monday 8 December.
It is planned to be a community affair as all are welcome to join the festivities, with staff, patients and visitors catered for in an inclusive programme of performances throughout the day.
The event will take place in the Winter Garden on Level 5 of the hospital, where two majestic 20-foot-tall Christmas trees will be located for all to enjoy.
The day will begin at 11.30am, when a series of choirs from six local schools and colleges will be performing.
Father Christmas will also be visiting the Winter Garden to gift children with candy canes and chocolate coins.
A hot chocolate and cookies cart will be providing refreshments, and balloon artists and magicians will be entertaining spectators.
At 5pm, there will be a special performance from the Voice of Hope Cancer Choir, with a cast of 25 cancer patients and carers formed over 30 years ago by five-time cancer survivor Sandra and her choirmaster husband Chris. Their special performance will be followed by the official Christmas Tree Lights Switch-on.
Diane Wake, Group Chief Executive of Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust, who will be turning on the Christmas lights, said: “I’m delighted to be playing this role in bringing some festive cheer to the Midland Met this year.
“I encourage patients, staff and visitors who will be attending the hospital to join us throughout the day as I’m sure the event will lift spirits during this festive season.”
