Hospital staff moved to seasonal verse

22nd Dec 2017

FOR THREE years running hospital staff have been moved to verse as they celebrate the festive season.

Eagerly anticipated across Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust, the release of the specially-written poem, features almost fifty staff from roles representing all areas including community, emergency medicine, paediatrics and portering.

The big hearted boys from West Bromwich Albion Football Club, have also lent their support to the initiative, with Jonny Evans, Ben Foster and Jay Rodriguez all taking a line, during their recent Santa visit to Sandwell Hospital’s children’s ward, where they handed out presents and spent time with young patients.

Raffaela Goodby, Director of People and Organisation Development said: “The poem really marks the start of Christmas for many of us. It originally came about from our desire to recognise the amazing staff we employ who keep our Trust running 24 hours a day, seven days a week. And, we know it is tough to be an inpatient during the festive period when many would prefer to be at home with their loved ones.

“Our thoughts are with those who are apart from loved ones at Christmas, and we hope this poem brings them some festive cheer.”
