Charity grants laptop wish to school

A Sandwell school is celebrating after being given a cash boost of over £9,000 from Your Trust Charity to pay for much-needed laptops for disadvantaged students.

Your Trust Charity, the registered charity for Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust, awarded the grant to Bristnall Hall Academy, in Oldbury, to top up the supply of devices the school was issued from the Department of Education and to offer additional tutoring sessions to further improve their portfolio of qualifications.

Youngsters at the secondary school, which provides education for 11 to 16-year-olds, will now be able to access eBooks and an online My Tutor programme.

Kully Uppal, Principal said: “Bristnall Hall Academy is truly honoured to have received this amazing grant of £9,600 from Your Trust Charity.  This money will help to further improve the educational and recreational experiences for some of our most vulnerable students within our community.

“No children or young people should ever be disadvantaged in the society we as educators serve; it’s reassuring to know that this substantial amount of money will now open the doors to enriching activities for individuals in our care. We look forward to sharing our amazing journey with all stakeholders along the way and showing how this grant is helping us continually transform lives in Sandwell.”

Eddie Edmead, major grants manager for Your Trust Charity said: “Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic over the past 18 months, Bristnall Hall has selflessly supported the work of Your Trust Charity and the Trust which we are hugely grateful for.  The school has remained a constant beacon of hope serving not just its pupils and families but also many of the marginalised communities and low-income households of Sandwell.

“It’s important to recognise the needs of the school and our community and Your Trust Charity is pleased to award this grant to such a deserving cause, which will help many pupils to continue with their education.”
