Arts Programme

We’re dedicated to enhancing patient wellbeing through the arts, creativity and local heritage.

More than a hospital — we offer a vibrant cultural space where you can explore art, photography, sculpture, video, sound installations, and more.

Step into The People’s Gallery, where creativity and community come together through exhibitions, performances, and workshops.

Reconnect with nature in The Commons, our community garden to nurture biodiversity and sensory experiences. It’s a peaceful retreat for rest, reflection, and connection.

We thrive on collaboration with artists and creatives who share our vision for pioneering arts initiatives that make a meaningful impact on community health.

Explore 110 Years of Healthcare, Hospitals, Heritage and Healing

Join us on a journey through the rich history of our hospital, brought to life through a project proudly funded by the National Heritage Lottery Fund.

Overhear is capturing voices from the past and present, recording memories and stories to create a compelling audio trail.
Spectra our artists in residence, are delving into the historical use of plants in healing, while also nurturing biodiversity through creative workshops and community events in The Commons.
Flatpack is producing a film that traces the hospital’s timeline, weaving together its story through archival footage and personal reflections.

As part of the project, three stunning Swaine Bourne stained-glass windows from the former City Road mortuary are being lovingly restored and relocated to the People’s Gallery. These will feature in a final exhibition curated by Tim Mills, celebrating the legacy of our healthcare community.
