Our Urgent Treatment Centre at Sandwell Health Campus will be changing its opening hours to all patients.
The facility, which replaced the walk-in centre at Parsonage Street in 2021, will now operate from 8am – 11pm.
This change is in effect from October 1 2025.
This change follows a detailed review of patient activity and demand patterns, ensuring that we continue to deliver safe, high-quality urgent care that meets the needs of our community.
Mel Roberts, Chief Nursing Officer, Director of Infection, Prevention and Control and Deputy Chief Executive at Sandwell and West Birmingham believes these changes will improve healthcare across the borough.
She said: “This change is about smarter care, not less care as it will ensure the Trust resources are used where they’re needed most and our patients across the borough get the best possible treatment.
“Emergency care will still remain available 24/7 at our Midland Metropolitan University Hospital.”
The Urgent Treatment Centre offers GP-led urgent, but not emergency care, for ailments such as suspected broken bones, cuts, bruises, abdominal pain, vomiting and other minor illnesses.
Patients from all areas are able to access the centre every day from 8am – 11pm, however if they are not registered with a GP they will be asked to sign up.
Should patient need urgent care outside these hours, they can use NHS 111 which will help get them directed to the most appropriate service.
