Apprenticeships

As a large teaching NHS Trust, we are committed to developing a talented and skilled workforce. The Trust actively promotes training and development within the organisation and apprenticeships form an important part of this for both new recruits and existing staff.

If you are passionate about delivering excellent healthcare services and joining the largest public sector employer in the UK, then why not consider kick-starting your career or having a change of career within the NHS through an apprenticeship?  At our organisation we are looking for talented and enthusiastic individuals who are ready to take on the challenge of working with us.  The Trust are dedicated to attracting our local community to come and work for us and we will invest in your education and training. There is a common misconception that apprenticeships are just for young people, but the reality is that you can apply for an apprenticeship at any age.

What is an apprenticeship?

An apprenticeship education programme is an integrated work-based training and development programme designed around the needs of the employer which develops the knowledge, skills and behaviours of the apprentice and ultimately leads to a nationally accredited apprenticeship qualification. The apprenticeship programme consists of both theory and practice, so much of your learning is developed in the workplace with off-the-job training, assessment and pastoral support provided by both our in-house training team, or an external education provider, a work-based mentor, and your manager. Apprenticeship Standards are verified externally via an end point assessment process.

What does an apprenticeship offer you?

  • Hands-on experience and transferable skills
  • Earn while you learn
  • Paid holidays
  • Nationally recognised qualifications
  • Regular study time
  • Paid employment and career progression

An apprenticeship opens the door to a career with our Trust. When you have successfully completed your apprenticeship, you will continue in paid employment.  We want you to stay with us and become part of our workforce.
