Sandwell Wheelchair Service assesses for, provides, and maintains wheelchairs, along with specialist seating or pressure cushions to people of all ages, with a registered Sandwell GP.
The service functions Monday to Friday, 8am-6pm. We see patients at the wheelchair clinic, in their own homes, at school, or at their workplace.
We provide a short-term loan service of up to three months for people who are terminally ill. The service is also available to people who have a short-term problem with their mobility, for example, a broken leg (subject to availability).
The clinical team will also refer to the West Midlands Regional Rehabilitation Centre for specialist assessment in the case of managing complex health conditions and for the provision of complex seating and wheelchair solutions.
We do not provide motorised scooters as part of our service.
To access the service a patients can either self-refer or a healthcare professional can do this using a referral form.

Wheelchair services and repairs are carried out by our approved repairer Ross Care who can be contacted on 0121 458 4111, Ross Care provide support both in and out of hours in case of a wheelchair emergency.

Should a person require a wheelchair for ‘occasional use’, this can be accessed via the Sandwell, shopmobility service on 0121 533 1931, open Wednesday to Friday 8:30am-3pm.
