Which is why for Valentine’s Day 2013 Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust’s Dartmouth sexual health clinic are launching a new service that will enable anyone to ask sexual health questions online direct to the experts.
The sexual health experts from Dartmouth Clinic, based at Sandwell Hospital are the first department in the Trust to offer medical advice in this way, utilising the discussions section on the Trust’s new interactive website www.swbhengage.com. All you need to do is visit engage, register and you will have the Trust’s sexual experts at your fingertips.
It’s natural to feel embarrassed when talking about sex, but it is important that we do talk about sex. If sexually transmitted infections (STI) are left untreated there is a risk that problems will spread and get much worse – in some cases involving the brain and major organs. If you are worried that you might have an STI, or are embarrassed and don’t know who to talk to, then don’t worry – help from your local NHS Trust has now gone social.
“By using engage we are enabling people to anonymously come to us for expert information and advice on sexual health and contraception. We hope this will take the embarrassment factor out of talking about sex” said Alexandra Louise Young, Deputy Manager/Senior Sexual Health Nurse.
