Mothers who have given birth at a Birmingham hospital are being urged to take part in a survey to improve care.
Women who give birth in January and February, 2017, at City Hospital, in Winson Green, will be sent a questionnaire in about three months’ time asking them about their experiences of the care they have received.
The survey, which is being run nationally by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), will focus on experiences of antenatal care, childbirth and postnatal care.
Rachel Carter, Deputy Head of Midwifery at Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust, said: “This is a really good opportunity for us to get feedback from our women to tell us how well we are doing in maternity and how we can further improve our care.
We want to encourage women whose first language is not English to also give us their feedback, to ensure all women’s views are captured – previous feedback has been low from this population group. There is free access to a translation service via a helpline which will help women to complete the survey.”
Taking part in the survey is voluntary and all answers will be kept confidential. If women choose not to take part it will not affect the care they receive from the NHS in any way.
