Cardiologist gains recognition in exclusive researchers list

Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust cardiologist Professor Gregory Lip has further expanded his achievements in gaining world recognition within Thomson Reuters ISI Highly cited researchers listing for 2014 for his accomplishments in his field of Cardiology.

Professor Lip states:  “I am humbled by this news and delighted to be listed on the world rankings of the world’s most influential researchers, which follows the recent inclusion in Thomson Reuters Science Watch list of “Hottest Researchers of 2013”.

“It is very nice indeed to know that my work is highly well-regarded, appreciated and recognised externally.  I am happy to have contributed to the management of common heart problems, and very much hope to do much more, with the appropriate support of colleagues.”

Professor Lip is widely recognised for his achievements in the field of Cardiology. He has recently been named in the top ten experts in the world in his field, particularly in atrial fibrillation (the commonest heart rhythm disorder, leading to an increased risk of stroke and heart failure) and the management of high blood pressure.

Not only is Professor Lip is an academic Professor at the University of Birmingham (UK) and Aalborg University (Denmark), he also contributes as a clinical cardiologist at Sandwell and West Birmingham Trust, where he practising a full range of cardiovascular medicine.
