Organ Donation
The Trust is committed to giving you and your loved ones an informed choice about organ donation and tissue.
Organ Donation
Organ donation is the process of a person donating their organs for transplant. These are given to someone with damaged organs that need to be replaced. An organ transplant may save a person’s life, or significantly improve their health and quality of life

Tissue Donation
Tissue donation can dramatically improve the quality of life for some individuals who are desperately in need. Most
people can donate some tissue for transplant. Age and medical condition are not necessarily a barrier to donation. Tissue donation is possible if your relative or friend has died within 24 hours.
Our aim is to support the individuals wishes to be a tissue donor following death. They may have expressed a wish during their lifetime by joining the organ donation register, carrying a donor card or have stated a desire to help others following their death. There is a national number available 24 hours a day for advice: 08004320559

Organ Donation Committee
The Organ Donation Committee was established in 2009 with the aim to make SWBH NHS Trust a national and regional leader in donation, as well as raise awareness of the importance of organ donation. The committee is made up of clinical staff from across the hospital, as well as non-clinical staff and donor family representatives.
