Newton 3
Newton 3 is a trauma and orthopaedic ward for patients needing treatment for fractured or broken bones and spinal injuries. The ward has a total of 33 beds and accommodates both male and female patients.
Patients admitted to Newton 3 will usually be admitted from Accident & Emergency after suffering a traumatic event. Patients who attend A&E or SAU at City who require surgery will be transferred to Newton 3 for both pre and post-operative care. They will also undergo surgery at Sandwell Hospital.
The duration of a patients stay on this ward is dependent on their medical condition and not all patients will undergo surgery.
Once patients have been discharged from Newton 3 they may require further treatment in an intermediate care unit or rehabilitation facility before returning home.
