D17 is a 26-bed female ward. It mostly treats patients with respiratory or gastric conditions, though you may encounter patients with other conditions. On arrival at D17 patients will be allocated a bed and a named nurse who will be responsible for care until discharge.

Staff on D17 create a caring and attentive environment by treating patients with dignity and respect. They work as a team to provide a high-standard of supportive care for acute and longer-term patients and their families.

The Respiratory and Gastroenterology Teams care for their own sets of patients on the ward.  We aim to ensure each patient’s receives a high standard of care at all times.  The ward manager is Justine Irish, who is responsible for a large team consisting of Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, Trainee Assistant Practitioners and Apprentices.

The female Respiratory/Gastroenterology ward in D17  is located on the first floor in the main spine of the building.

A patient handbook with detailed information about the services and facilities on the ward is available on request.

Please feel free to share your experiences during your time on this ward. Please e-mail your contribution to swbh.comms@nhs.net

Patients will be required to bring in their own nightwear and toiletries if possible and up to date list of their current medications.  Patients are asked not to bring in anything valuable or large sums of money.
