Tracey Moore – Holistic and beauty therapist
CARING for the carers, Tracey Moore has helped more than 400 NHS workers maintain their health and wellbeing through her therapy services.
Tracey Moore, from Cradley Heath, provides holistic and beauty therapy services to staff who work for Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust (SWBH) and for her, this is one of ‘the best jobs in the world.’
“I love caring for people and to be able to care for those who work for the NHS, that is even more meaningful to me,” explained Tracey.
“I feel like I work alongside the NHS and support the institution in a small way. It’s great satisfaction whenever I see people feel better after their treatment.”
The brave cancer survivor also praised the NHS for the help that she received. Tracey, aged 51, recalled: “I was diagnosed with breast cancer last May. That started with a rash.
“I then visited my GP and was referred to City Hospital. Within two weeks from being referred to taking tests, doctors confirmed that I had cancer.
“I then had four operations and radiotherapy. I got the ‘all clear’ by December last year and I felt so lucky. The teams at City Hospital were first class and I felt enormously grateful to their help.”
Once she made a full recovery, Tracey decided to go back to work immediately. She said: “I just couldn’t wait to get back to work.
“SWBH has been so helpful to me. They have given me all the support that I need to run my service. And now, I am able to see staff at Rowley Regis and City hospitals, which is really great.
“The Trust truly cares for its employees’ health and wellbeing. They hold many events where staff are encouraged to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
“I think it’s the right thing to do. NHS staff are very busy, so giving the care that they need to boost their energy is essential.”
Outside her work, Tracey enjoys spending time with her daughter, reading books about nutrition, health and wellbeing, and visiting the gym to keep fit.
She also plans to do a course specialising in seated acupressure massage, which will allow her to offer services to more people in the Trust. She explained: “This type of massage allows me to carry a specially designed chair more easily and provides flexibility to work in different places, enabling me to offer my service to more staff.
She added: “The Theatre Team at City in particular are amazing – I’d say they are my heroes. When I underwent the various operations to treat my cancer, everyone in the team was amazing and they made my journey so much easier. Their calm and supportive manner really made a big difference to me.”
