An event which aims to examine a range of topics – all ‘below the belt’ – including sexuality and bladder and bowel problems, is inviting people affected by MS (multiple sclerosis) and anyone with an interest in the condition to attend.
Organised by MS Nurses from Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust (SWBH), working in partnership with the MS Society, the event will take place at Birmingham Medical Institute in Harborne.
Dawn Brookfield, MS Support Nurse from SWBH, explained the reason the event has been organised. She said: “My colleague Sally Thompson and I are regularly asked for information and advice on these intimate issues, which affect many of our patients. One the whole these are largely very positive people, keen to enjoy life to the full, despite living with this long-term neurological condition, which affects so many aspects of their lives. We hope that this information day, which will take place in a relaxed atmosphere, will allow them the opportunity to access excellent quality up-to-date information and to pick the brains of the very approachable experts we have lined up.”
Set for Saturday 27th April between 10am and 2.30pm the event offers the chance for attendees to choose between workshops on male and female sexuality followed by mixed sessions on bowel and bladder function. A free buffet lunch and a chance to take a look around a number of exhibition stands with help and information on MS are also available.
