Patient makes donation after successful hip replacement
Mrs Acland, a recent patient at city hospital’s Fracture clinic paid one last visit to the department last week to give her thanks to consultant Mr Sikand after a successful hip replacement.
Mrs Acland who made the donation to the SWBH Charity expressed her delight with her hip replacement surgery, saying ‘The surgery was excellent and I am very happy with the final result’. She gave praise to the NHS and surgeon Mr Sickand as she handed over the cheque to the SWBH Charity declaring ‘I got the surgeon I wanted and I am very pleased with that’.
Mrs Acland shared her experiences as both a patient and an employee in the hospital. She declared ‘I had a very interesting time in hospital as a patient as things had changed so much since I worked on the ward as a houseman.’ Mr Sikand speaking on behalf of the donation said how he was ‘really thankful for Mrs Acland’s support to the department.’
Donations to the SWBH Charity make all the difference to the experience of future patients something Mr Sickand and Mrs Acland both acknowledged. The money will be beneficial for future research with half going towards research and the remainder going towards the purchase of new equipment.
Carly Jones, Head of Fundraising for the SWBH Charity said:
‘We’re so grateful for this generous donation from Mrs Acland. Her generosity is truly fantastic and the donation will go a long way to helping us improve the experience of our patients in the Fracture Clinic department. We can’t thank her enough.”
