Flu vaccinations
The Trust provides all healthcare workers with an annual flu vaccination. This is in accordance with Department of Health guidelines which recommend the vaccination for:
- health and social care workers
- chronic illnesses – lung, heart, liver and neurological conditions
- people with diabetes
- pregnant women
- people with low immune levels
The vaccine is highly effective, preventing about 85-90% of cases. It takes about 10-14 days to become fully effective, during which time you may experience some slight symptoms, but these won’t be the flu.
The vaccine is best delivered between September and December, and is highly effective in protecting staff, work colleagues, vulnerable patients and families.
