Stroke reconfiguration plans move forward
The business case for the reconfiguration of our Vascular Surgery Service has been approved by the Trust board subject to the completion of an equalityiImpact assessment being carried out for the project.
An implementation plan was due to be presented to the Trust Board to support both SWBH and University Hospitals Birmingham in to agreeing the workforce aspects of the project, and commence formal information and consultation arrangements with the Trade Unions and staff affected by the proposed changes.
An implementation date during September 2012 has been proposed to enable a planned approach for the implementation of the service changes and also to support staff engagement and formal consultation arrangements with staff involved with these changes.
We are now focussing on agreeing timescales and the project implementation plan.
We will be engaging and consulting with key stakeholders including patients, staff, trade union representatives, GPs, Clinical Commissioning Groups, PCTs and the ambulance service.
Also, we have also been continuing to talk to our patients, both inpatients and outpatients, and have had some useful feedback into their thoughts about our plans.
The results have revealed that our staff are doing a tremendous job in looking after our vascular patients.
The patients we have spoken to are very keen to continue to have treatment at our Trust, whilst understanding that for inpatient stays they will go to the new Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
The Project team supporting the project have also attended GP Protected Learning Time (PLT) events to speak to GPs and ensure they understand the benefits to some of the changes we are making.
