Neonatal Unit
The Neonatal Unit at City Hospital provides specialised care for premature babies and new-borns who require additional support.
The ward has a total of 29 cots:
• 5 are intensive care cots
• 5 are high dependency cots
• 19 are special care cots
Visiting hours are 24 hours a day for parents, and between 3-7pm for grandparents.
No other visitors are allowed onto the Neonatal ward.
Facilities are available for parents wishing to stay with their baby near to the time of discharge.
A wide range of information leaflets for parents are available on the ward and a parent support group is held once-a-month. Parents should ask ward staff for dates and venues.
The Neonatal Unit is part of the South West Midlands Newborn Network.

Senior Sister: There are 12 senior sisters who work within the Neonatal unit.
Babies staying on the Neonatal ward will be treated by a team of highly qualified medical staff which includes, consultants, nurses who have obtained neonatal nursing qualifications, nursery nurses, health care assistants and infant feeding advisors.
