M2

M2 is the Postnatal ward. It has 21 beds and cots for new mums and their babies.

Patients on this ward will be expected to stay for no more than 4 days.

M1 has open visiting times between 1-9pm.

The whole family are welcome to visit, but only 3 people can be at the bedside at any one time.

Mums and babies staying on M2 will be treated by a multidisciplinary team which includes midwives, health care assistants (all of whom have had breastfeeding training), consultants and an infant feeding advisor.

Mums will need to bring:

• Nightwear
• Daywear – tracksuit of comfortable clothes
• Undergarments
• Toothbrush and toothpaste
• Soap and deodorant
• Bath towel and a flannel or sponge

Babies will need:

• Nappies
• Cotton wool
• Clothes
• Blankets if required
• Car seat for journey home

Do not bring:

• Large amounts of money
• Valuables such as jewellery
• Television or radios
• Alcohol

M2 is located in the Maternity Block at City Hospital
