Healthcare heroes will be recognised in Trust awards

26th Apr 2022

Nominations are now open for the public to vote for a team or individual who has given exceptional care at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust.

The Star Awards is a celebration of staff who have gone above and beyond in their roles.

There are 13 categories in the event, which boasts a carnival theme. They include the quality of care award – finalists are nominated by the public, employee of the year, volunteer of the year, and our newly created partnerships with the community gong.

The Trust runs Sandwell, City and Rowley Regis Hospitals as well as Leasowes Intermediate Care Centre and GP practice Your Health Partnership, which covers six sites across Sandwell.

Former Eastenders star and ITV weatherman Des Coleman will host the event in October which will be held at Aston Villa Football Club.

Sir David Nicholson, chairman at the Trust, said: “Once again our staff have faced a challenging year treating patients in our hospitals and in the community for COVID-19.

“That’s why these awards remain such an important event in our calendar as it gives them the recognition they truly deserve.

“There are both teams and individuals who have risen up and played a critical role during this pandemic. There are also those that have gone above and beyond within their regular areas of healthcare.

“I am also pleased to see new categories this year, including one looking at how we have worked with other organisations within our diverse community of Sandwell and West Birmingham. It really will be the highlight of our year and I am delighted that we are able to continue to deliver this event for our staff.”
