Ms Bushra Mushtaq is a consultant ophthalmologist with subspecialty interest in medical retina at BMEC since 2008/2009. She is Director for Medical Retina Services BMEC& Sandwell and Tutor Royal College Ophthalmologist.
Areas of Expertise: Diabetic eye disease management routine and tertiary service for
complex disease including laser with state of the art lasers. AMD and rare forms of macular degeneration with full range of investigation FFA, ICG, electro-diagnostics; Inherited eye disease, retinal/Macular dystrophies. Retinal vascular diseases, Vein occlusions, as well as rare disorders; VHL, Coats, IPFT. Intra-vitreal therapies with anti VEGF and long acting implants. Proficient in simple & complex cataract surgery.

Ophthalmology Training: BMEC & Royal Infirmary Stoke-on Trent SHO, Specialist Registrar West Midlands school of Ophthalmic, further Specialist training in Medical Retina and VR BMEC, Fellowship in medical retina and ocular genetics Oxford Eye Hospital.
Research Interest: Presentations in national and international meetings, published in peer reviewed journals. Active involvement in research projects involving Diabetic retinopathy, RVO treatments, and new AMD therapies.
