Kavita Singh is a gynaecologist with a sub-specialist training in gynaecological cancers. Her strengths are providing a high quality of surgical care in gynaecology. She is an accredited colposcopist for treating abnormal smears. She is an expert in advanced laparoscopic surgery for performing total laparoscopic hysterectomy and treating cervical and uterine cancers with keyhole surgery. She also provides latest advanced surgical care for ovarian cancers. Her expertise also extends to treatment of endometriosis, fibroids and menstrual dysfunction. She also offers expert advice for menopausal disorders and pelvic infections.
She qualified in 1987 and has worked in reputed centres in the UK and abroad. She has obtained her training in gynaecology at Royal Free Hospital, London where she worked from 1996 to 2002. During this tenure she was involved in research relating to anatomical basis of pelvic floor dysfunction and expanded her interests in pelvic surgery relating to gynaeoncology and pelvic floor reconstruction. She subsequently completed a specialist training in gynaecological oncology (cancers) at Birmingham and in 2005 started working as a full-time NHS Consultant Gynaeoncologist at Pan-Birmingham Gynaeoncology Cancer Centre at City Hospital. She is also a Consultant at Priory Hospital and Edgbaston BMI hospital.
She has travelled to reputed centres in Europe, USA and Africa to further enhance her surgical skills. She has been trained in advanced laparoscopic surgical skills at Institute Claudius Regaud, Toulouse, France. She has also undertaken research fellowship at Brigham & Women’s Hospital (Harvard University), Boston, and travelling fellowships to Duke Medical Centre, North Carolina and Rush Presbyterian Hospital, Chicago. She has been trained in repair of genital tract fistulae at Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
She has published widely and presented at various national and international forums. She also holds an Honorary Senior Lecturer status at Birmingham University She is the Chair for the Pan-Birmingham Gynaecology Cancer Site Specific Group and a surgical trainer for Ethicon Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery course.
