Supporters of Sandwell & West Birmingham Hospitals (SWBH) Charity took to the streets last month on a night walk to raise funds for Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre (BMEC).
The BMEC Team included staff and supporters, who started their journey on 20th September at Birmingham University. Working in partnership with national eye research charity Fight for Sight, participants took on the challenge of either a six or 15 mile walk through the streets of Birmingham overnight. They began their adventure at 11pm with the last walkers crossing the finish line around 5am the following morning.
Team BMEC have raised more than £6,000 for the SWBH Charity and its campaign to provide exceptional research facilities at the Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre. The campaign is aiming to raise approx. £50,000 to refurbish and equip the clinical research facility at BMEC to improve understanding of eye conditions.
BMEC is one of the largest eye centres in the UK with an international reputation for innovation. The SWBH Charity is running this campaign to enhance the facilities we already provide and make an excellent service even better
