Capturing the Community Photography Competition

Are you a keen photographer? Do you want to showcase the health community of Sandwell and West Birmingham and be part of our historic competition to record the stories of Sandwell & West Birmingham? Do you want your work to be immortalised within the new hospital in Smethwick, Midland Metropolitan Hospital?

As part of the countdown towards the opening of the new Midland Metropolitan Hospital in October 2018, we are inviting members of the public to send in their best photographic entries to our competition. The Trust sites of City Hospital and Sandwell Hospital have long histories and mean a lot to the people who have been cared for in them over the years. As we journey towards opening our fantastic new facility, the Midland Metropolitan, we want to use the preceding 900 days to capture images from across the community. These could reflect the diverse people who live and work here, the historic buildings within the area where healthcare is provided, as well as the staff who make a huge contribution to the wellbeing of us all.

The best photographs will be part of public exhibitions leading up to the opening and will be on permanent display within the new hospital, as well as within a published book.

Every month until the opening, a panel of judges, led by Professor Jonathan Berg, well-known exhibiting photographer and author of Positively Birmingham, will decide on the best entries that will then go through to the next stage of the competition.
