Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans (LGBT) Staff Network
The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans (LGBT) Staff Network is a group of individuals from across the Trust who self-identify as being LGBT+ or are an ally of LGBT+ Staff.
The core aim of our network is to promote equality, diversity, inclusion and Pride in our LGBT+ Staff and to assist Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust deliver better services for all, both staff and patients
We want to improve the working lives of LGBT+ Staff by empowering them to feel safe and able to be “Out” at work allowing all staff to bring their whole selves to work, this will benefit both our colleagues and our patients
We are a critical friend to the Trust and work with the organisation to implement the Staff Pledges, the Patient Pledges and the action plan from the annual Diversity & Inclusion Report & Stonewall Equality Index
The LGBT Staff Network and Trust are members of Stonewall and are Diversity Champions. We take part in the annual Workplace Equality Index and aim to be in the top 100 employers
The network have Rainbow lanyards that are worn by staff all across the Trust, these are a symbol of inclusion and do not define the person as being LGBT+ but as an ally of our inclusive culture and network
The network has led the local NHS in recent years by attending Birmingham Pride both as participants in the parade and also as a stallholder, advertising the work and employment opportunities within the Trust
Each February the network highlights LGBT History month and celebrates the contribution members of the LGBT+ community have made to society, health care and the Trust
The LGBT Staff Network works in partnership with the Diversity and Inclusion Team and the other Staff Networks to promote Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. We take part in internal and external activities promoting the inclusive culture of our organization.
We welcome all staff both LGBT+ and Allies to join us at any of our events or meetings
